Why it’s been so slow around here.

Hello readers, I have missed you. But I have some good excuses for the lack of posts lately. One month ago today, I started my new venture into both blogging and direct sales. I mostly started down this path because of my passion for paper crafting and my long standing desire to start a blog just for fun to have a place to put my thoughts and maybe make some friends. I think I got off to a decent start.  I’m a “starter” type person for sure. Just not always a finisher. I became a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, started this blog, and social media connections for it on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest in two days time. I was hoping to get an hour or two to work on this daily.  And then a bunch of life happened all at once. Isn’t that how it goes? Over the last couple weeks, here’s what I’ve been up to: -My family has decided to move, and we’ve started that process. The decision was made rather quickly, and was the culmination of our lease coming to an end, our desire to get out of this teeny-tiny falling apart duplex with the not-so-nice landlord, and my mother-in-law needing a bit of help after some medical issues. So we need to pack up our existing place (7 people have a LOT of stuff) as well as clean out/rearrange/etc the upstairs and downstairs of my mother-in-law’s house where we will be moving to. And the two places are in different towns about a 25 minute drive apart. And figure out what to do with all the kid’s stuff that is located our “old” town and what to do about all that. It’s going to be a positive change, I know it is, but the actual process is very daunting, stressful, overwhelming, time consuming, labor intensive, and expensive. I’m trying to keep my eye on the end goal when I want to throw in the towel. -My baby boy (who recently turned 10 months old) has gone from a child who was very content to sit on a blanket and entertain himself with toys and books for 30 minutes at a time, to a crawling, almost-pulling-up, electric cord heat seeking missile, curious, too-busy-exploring-to-nap little boy. This boy is go, go, go. It’s been ten years since I had a baby, and wow did I forget how exhausting this is (but also wonderful, don’t get me wrong). -Trying to get my Stampin’ Up! direct sales business off the ground, spending time planning an open house, making demo cards, etc. It’s been fun for sure but I wish I had more time to dedicate to it. -It’s the last few weeks of the school year. I have four school-age children at three different schools. It seems like every day this time of year there is a play, concert, field trip, or something that requires extra time and usually money. -General life with five kids and a husband is just plain busy. I wouldn’t have it any other way, but I’d sure like some more sleep. So please, dear blog, forgive me for neglecting you. I really hope to get back on track once we are settled in to our new place.

Jax helping me pack. Or rather, unpack-which is not the goal.

I feel your pain! I have three other children aside from my little Dorian, the subject of the blog, and I work primarily at home. I currently have two teaching jobs, one of them is online, and I edit and write freelance. I started this blog at about the same time that you did, and although I have kept up with it and attempted to find other blogs etc., man, sometimes it’s tough. Stick with it and keep writing when you can! It can be your little snippet of relaxation time. 🙂 I know that my wee one is going to cause havoc, but that just makes for great writing material in hindsight.
    Nice pic, too.

I was on a roll with my blog…posting 6 times a week, often having posts written up to a week or two in advance and than….well, life. Now I’m lucky to get one or two posts in a week. 😦 But I shall persevere! I LOVE blogging! I hope things get a little less chaotic for you soon. That picture above is adorable!

The posts in advance and scheduling them out is what I really want to strive for. That and consistency- even if it’s just one or two posts a week I think I’d be happier with that vs. daily posts for a week then nothing for two or three weeks. Thanks for your comments. My boy is so dang cute it’s nearly impossible to get frustrated with him for interrupting work time. Have a great week!
